Forest Moon Theater to present “I Never Saw Another Butterfly” Feb. 8-10 & 15-17

Forest Moon Theater will present “I Never Saw Another Butterfly” Friday-Sunday, Feb. 8-10 and 15-17, at the Wake Forest Renaissance Centre, 405 S. Brooks St. Friday and Saturday showtime is 7:30 p.m., while Sunday’s showtime is 3 p.m.

At the height of Hitler's campaign to rid the world of Jews, children of the condemned arrive in Terezin, where they are assigned to a teacher, Raja, who watches over them until they are separated and sent to concentration camps. Raja survives to tell their story, a story that celebrates the human spirit and ability to uplift oneself, a story about children who bring light to the dark, hope to the abject, and love to a place surrounded by hate. Please note: Content appropriate for the entire family.

This play is produced by special arrangements with Dramatists Play Service, Inc.

Advance tickets are $15 plus tax for adults and $13 plus tax for students and seniors. These prices reflect a savings of $3 per adult and student/senior on “day of” admission tickets. For more information or to purchase tickets, visit www.wakeforestrencen.org/tickets-events.

Following the performances on Sunday, Feb. 10, and Saturday, Feb. 16, the Renaissance Centre and Forest Moon Theater will welcome Wake Forest resident, Holocaust educator, and son of two Holocaust survivors, Sheldon “Shelly” Bleiweiss, who will lead a group discussion. Offered at no additional charge and appropriate for all audience members - both children and adults and children - the discussions are intended to help attendees process the issues raised by the play. The programs will also offer additional information about Terezin, the Holocaust, and help remind us how we can, as global citizens, help prevent hate crimes in our world today.

The Renaissance Centre offers season and flex passes for Forest Moon Theater performances. For more information, call the Renaissance Centre Box Office at 919-435-9458. For more information about Forest Moon Theater, visit forestmoontheater.org or call 919-435-2001.
