Tickets still available for Wake Forest Film Festival
Area residents are invited to a cinematic tour de force - the debut of the Wake Forest Film Festival – this Thursday-Saturday, March 28-30, at the Wake Forest Renaissance Centre, 405 S. Brooks St. Entitled “A Light in the Forest,” this inaugural event will spotlight passionate, creative and thought-provoking movies by some of today's most promising and accomplished local, national and international filmmakers.
The Wake Forest Film Festival will engage audiences with films of all lengths and genres, including short and feature, documentary, horror, animation, narrative and student. Intended for both the general public and film professionals, the film festival is an opportunity for filmmakers to showcase their films in a unique location to a discerning audience.
The three-day film showcase gets underway Thursday, March 28, at 6 p.m. with an “Opening Red Carpet Reception,” followed by a variety of film screenings from 7-9:30 p.m. The film screenings then continue Friday, March 29, from 3-9 p.m.
A series of free classes and workshops will kick off the final day of the festival on Saturday, March 30, including “Everything You Need to Know About Script Writing in 60 minutes” from 11 a.m.-noon; “Women in Film” from 1-2 p.m.; and “Your Indie Film: Make It Happen” from 2-3 p.m. These classes are free, but pre-registration is required at www.wakeforestrencen.org/tickets-events/wake-forest-film-festival.
The final round of film screenings is scheduled from 3-9 p.m., followed by the awards ceremony and an “After Cinema Soiree” from 9 p.m.-midnight at Unwined on White, 153 S. White St.
Actor Larry “Tank” Jones will serve as Saturday evening’s awards ceremony emcee. Jones, who plays the lead role of Jim Young in the Uptone Pictures’ production of “Union Bound,” has also appeared in “Breaking Bad,” “CSI: Miami” and “Three Kings.”
